Physics, what goes up must come down. This 6.6km trail race is a true out and back race where it’s uphill to the turn around and down all the way back. 90% is on groomed park trails, 5% gravel service road and 5% single track. The back half is fast! Like down hill, pedal to the medal fast. Not so steep that you will lose control (except the service road it’s pretty steep) the rest is just open it up and let it fly.

This race starts at 6:30pm.
There will be a short pre-race briefing before you start where you will be updated on course conditions, and a quick rundown of the race rules.
The What Goes Up… trail race takes place in Linley Valley in north Nanaimo. The start/finish is at the bottom of the stairs off Rock City Rd.
There is a good network of trails in the park don’t worry our trails will be well marked. We are running on the main trail, which is crushed gravel and well maintained. I have added just a taste of single track for all those who have never run trails before, don’t worry it’s only 200m each way. There is a good climb up the service (it wouldn’t be trail running without a good climb) to a great view point of the city.
If you register for the whole series you will get a milti-race discount
